Festival de la Porta Ferrada - Catalonia news

Sant Feliu de Guíxols hosts the 52st Festival de la Porta Ferrada until the 23th August. More than 20 shows will take place in 5 different places.

The Festival de la Porta Ferrada is the oldest festival in Catalonia, with 50 years of history. It has an extremely varied programme that is focused on music but there are also other performing arts. Shows are suitable for all audiences and they will take place in 5 different places in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

Classical music, jazz, pop, songwriting, theatre and dance are the proposals for this year’s edition, which wants to remain faithful to its path but at the same time driving new activities and exterior repercussion.

Some of the most outstanding concerts of the festival are the only concert in Catalonia of the Belle & Sebastian, Crystal Fighters, that just played in Barcelona with sold-out tickets.  Other outstanding groups are Els amics de les arts, Malú or Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Raül Fernandez Miró.

But there are other concerts in emblematic places of Sant Feliu, like the plaça del Mercat, the Espai Carmen Thyssen or some courtyards of private homes. These concerts are in the Music in the city season and they will be totally free. Music will fill these places with bands like the Blaumut, or the violinist David Morata Partites y doubles de Bach.

The festival has also a theatre section where you will be able to see Andreu Buenafuente and Berto Romero with the show “Nadie sabe nada” and Joaquim Bosch and Jaume Boixaderes with the theatre play “El Crèdit”, amongst others. In the dance area, the Ballet Victor Ullate will dance the show “Samsara”.
